As pilot and captain of aircrew, this officer has shown powers of leadership which have set an outstanding example to the rest of the squadron. He has displayed efficiency in his duties and determination in pressing home his attacks on many targets. Despite frequent enemy opposition his missions have all been successful.

A distinguished pilot and efficient captain of aircraft, Flight Lieutenant Overton has attacked the majority of the most heavily defended targets in Germany, including seven sorties to Berlin. In spite of intense opposition he has consistently pressed home his attacks, displaying outstanding courage and a high sense of duty.
