R5912  Lancaster  P/O ISAACSON  17:55  20.05  11000  22:15    Flak ship opened very accurate fire with 3 guns at 2050 hrs and an A/C was seen to be hit and brought down soon afterwards.  103 
W4854  Lancaster I  F/Sgt DAVIES  18:05  20.07  10900  23:25    Moderate heavy flak and light flak and tracer observed from the islands. At 2100 hrs A/C seen hit by flak and fall to the ground. Four minutes later in TERSCHELLING area another A/C seen to crash into the sea and burn.  103 
ED485  Lancaster III  F/Sgt CASE  18:07          T/O 1807 Warboys. Lost without trace. All are commemorated on the Runnymede Memorial. Sgt McClennan RAAF gained an immediate DFM, Gazetted 14/8/1942, for his prompt actions during operations over Duisberg the previous month. F/S Case RCAF was a graduate of Kelvington High School, Saskatchewan. Although not unique, a mix of RAAF, RCAF, RNZAF and RAF airmen in one crew was unusual. This was the first Lancaster III reported missing from the Squadron

[ED] - This Crew have retrained from Wellingtons and there is a break of some four months between Missions, Cuthbert comes back in as Nav2 from his role as A/G, this seems to be common in Wellington crews updating to Lancs.

This was their first trip on Lancs.

W4851  Lancaster I  F/Lt KEARNS  18:00  20.04  11500  22:40    Hit by flak in port inner engine at 2004 hrs and operation completed on three engines. At 2006 hrs sighted S/E E/A, evasive action commenced and E/A banked to stbd, enabling R/G to get in a 2 second burst. E/A broke away without further action. At 2103 hrs A/C seen to fall into sea and blow up.  104 
W4856  Lancaster I  P/O GOODLEY  18:00  20.18  11000  23:15    A dinghy was sighted on return journey and our A/C circled round. Red verey lights were being fired form the dinghy and our A/C acknowledged by flashing SOS by hand torch.  104
