1/04/1944  Saturday  The Squadron was reformed on a two flight basis. A new Lancaster Squadron formed at Little Staughton from one flight of 156 Squadron and one flight of 7 Squadron. "C" Flight was chosen from 156 Squadron. Flight Commander S/LD D.M. Walbourn. The flight moved by air and road to Little Staughton, and the move was completed the same day. Flight unfortunately lost three excellent crews in operations on the night of 30/31st March, S/LD P.R Goowin, Capt F Johnson and W/O Murphy J.A. The Squadron now operates on Establishment of 16 + 4 Lancasters and personnel of 70 Officers and 378 other ranks. 7 non operational flights F/L W.S. Walker GD (S) finished his tour and reposted to the Squadron as Signals Leader. ** Handwritten correction to log points out that "Four - Lindley see last month report" in reference to losses. *** The new squadron formed was 582 Squadron
