Following graduation from Saltfleet High School, P/O Fletcher enlisted in November, 1942, at the
age of 18 . He was awarded his all gunner's wing in November, 1943.
He served for a time with Polish Squadron No. 300 and later transferred to the R.A .F . Pathfinder
Squadron No, 156. He was on his 43rd operational flight on March 31, 1945, when he was shot down over
Hamburg, Germany. Word has been received by his parents that he was buried in the German Cemetery at
Stenman and later moved to the British Cemetery at Soltau, Germany.
