As wireless operator/air gunner, Pilot Officer Mann has displayed courage and efficiency of the highest order. On several occasions, by his technical skill, he has enabled his captain to fly a badly damaged aircraft safely to base.

He has taken part in operations over the enemy's most heavily defended areas and his cheerfulness and devotion to duty under the most trying conditions have set a high example to his crew.
