Distinguished Flying Cross (United States) - awarded as per London Gazette dated 14 June 1946. Public Record Office Air 2/9114 has citation drafted when he had flown 65 sorties (329 operational hours) as a navigator; of these, 37 sorties (163 hours) had been since his previous award.

Flight Lieutenant Proud has 35 sorties with the Pathfinder Force, most of which have been against German targets. He has carried out many attacks in support of the United States Armies including missions against Russelheim, Frankfurt, and targets in the south of the Ruhr.
He has shown a fine spirit of cooperation and his record of operational service is worthy of the highest praise.
